Day job/career: I plan, manage and execute OCL's 3-day Communication Skills Training course, as the Logistics Leader for the Greater St. Louis Chapter. I help to create an environment where participants feel cared for and inspired, while helping to grow the mission of our organization through outreach events, workshops and networking opportunities.
How did you become involved with OCL? I was familiar with Barry-Wehmiller and genuinely respected how BW’s Truly Human Leadership was trying to change the culture of businesses. When I saw that OCL was advertising the position for the Logistics Leader, I knew the mission of the organization, as well as the role mirrored the values I try to live my life by.
How do you most often find yourself using what you learned in CST? Before CST I had always thought the best way to connect with others was to “relate” to them by telling how you have a similar story. What I discovered was I was taking people out of their moment and putting them in my moment. I learned the best way to empathize and be there for someone is to truly listen.
