How did you become involved with OCL? When I joined Barry-Wehmiller in 2012, providing accounting services to the fledgling OCL was just one of my many responsibilities. OCL grew rapidly, and by 2017, the board of directors decided it was time to create a position for a finance director within the organization. I was delighted to be offered the position, and I am honored to work in an organization that is dedicated to creating a more caring and compassionate world.
What is your hope for OCL? There is no doubt that OCL can change lives and create healthier communities. Our potential is infinite, and my hope is that we will continue to attract partners who will help us bring our message of empathetic engagement to more communities.
How do you most often find yourself using what you learned in CST? I find that CST has helped me to listen more deeply to those I love, to be fully present for them, and to give them the grace and space to discover their own solutions.
What is your favorite quote? “Nothing is more important than empathy for another human being's suffering. Nothing. Not a career, not wealth, not intelligence, certainly not status. We have to feel for one another if we're going to survive with dignity.’-- Audrey Hepburn
What is your idea of a great day? Being in the sunshine, near water, with a good book.
