Day job/ career:
Non-profit Consultant/ Contractor
How did you become involved with Our Community Listens?
I went through the class after hearing about it from my sister. When they sent out a ‘professor call’ I had already seen what a huge impact it was having on my relationships at home and work that I thought, ‘how could I NOT be a part of this?'
What is your hope for Our Community Listens?
That it would continue to bring healing and hope to relationships around the world and set a new example of life and leadership for the next generation.
How do you most often find yourself using what you learned in CST?
I find myself being more ‘fully present’ with family - using my attending behaviors and slowing down instead of interrupting to push conversations along. After my husband and I both took the class, we’re a lot more intentional about style-flexing to one another - especially when we can tell that the other is under stress.
What is your idea of a great day?
A quiet start to the morning with my husband, a good cup of coffee, and watching the sun rise from our deck. Then packing up the kids and our camping gear and heading out on an unplanned trip that involves dirt roads, water, and mountains until we find the perfect place to set up camp. Wrap it all up with a campfire, music, and some cocktails. Heaven. :)
