Day job/career: Elementary school librarian. I spend my days putting students together with books, making books come alive for my students, and listening to the wonderful stories that my students have to tell me!
How did you become involved with OCL? From day 1 of taking the CST course, I was amazed, intrigued, changed and eager to become part of this magical team!
What is your hope for OCL? I reflect on the communication challenges that are facing our world today and I firmly believe that CST has the power to refocus all those challenges to create a very positive, civil path of communication!
How do you most often find yourself using what you learned in CST? I have learned to love listening. Whether I am listening to my adult siblings, one of my own children, students at school, or colleagues, I learn so much from listening and those who I listen to are amazed and grateful.
Three things that make you smile. Golden retriever puppies; children (my own and all of those around me); the amazing mountains that surround our valley!
Your favorite quote. The fitness facility at which I work out has a white board at the top of the steps to the facility entrance. Every week they have a fun quote, often (as today) they are not cited, which distresses the librarian part of me to no end. Today's sentence to remember was: "Never make your life decisions based on the advice given to you by people who do not have to live with the consequences of that advice." Hmmm, I do not know who said it but I certainly like it!
