Day job/career: Executive Director of Information Technologies for Colorado Mountain College. I oversee a department of 30 individuals who support all technology and provide technical support to faculty, staff and students across Colorado Mountain College’s district, which encompasses 11 locations and covers 12,000 square miles in the mountains of Colorado.
How did you become involved with OCL? I had two staff members take the OCL CST class and after they shared their experience with me, I knew it would be a great professional development opportunity for my whole team. When I took the class, I immediately realized how life-changing it was. When I was approached about becoming a professor, I could not turn down the opportunity.
What is your hope for OCL? That OCL will continue being a catalyst for change in our communities. But not just in the Roaring Fork Valley, but also the whole state and our nation.
How do you most often find yourself using what you learned in CST? While the CST principles have been beneficial to all of my relationships, it has benefitted me most in the day-to-day management of my department. It has provided me with a skill set to deal with staff members who are emotionally charged and feeling like they are not being heard.
